Tinderbox Frontiers

Frontiers Film

This is an exciting new film and animation project taking over the streets of Edinburgh as a platform for performance, projection and expression.

It takes the form of a ten-week film and animation project for young people out of work and education.

It is funded by the British Film Institute ‘Into Film’ Award and run by Tinderbox Project, Alchemy Arts and Media Education in Edinburgh.

The Monkey Pirates

The Monkey Pirates are a VJing and animation collective of young people which formed out of a series of workshops we ran with Kaimes School for young people with autism and additional support needs. The Monkey Pirates have continued to perform at live events with us and others in Edinburgh, and some have progressed to college and are developing their skills in related areas.

Colour of Conflict

VJ_workhshopThis was the starting point for Frontiers – a multi-faith, multi-media project bringing together 5 different faith groups from around Edinburgh into a collaborative film and music composition performed live at the Usher Hall for the Dalai Lama’s visit to Edinburgh in 2012 to over 2000 people. We extended the project to a Tinderbox production ‘Frontiers’ at the Queen’s Hall which brought together three Scottish bands, 15 Scottish film-makers and 200 young people from diverse backgrounds and faith communities across Edinburgh. You can read more about it and watch some videos from it here.
