About Tinderbox Orchestra’s Easter Course
We are building a brand new orchestra in Dundee and would love you to be a part of it! It will bring together orchestral instruments with bands and singers, and the goal is to do something exciting and creative with an orchestra, and make some great new music.
Over the 4-day course, we will be writing, rehearsing and performing a set of original music in a range of styles and we’d love you to join us. Strings, Brass, Wind, Saxes, Singers, Rappers & Backline instruments all welcome!
There will be a wide mix of ages and abilities in the orchestra and the ethos is very inclusive. There will be a mix of simple and challenging music, as well as easy and hard parts for every piece, so you should be able join in whatever level you are.
As a guide for intermediate players, if you know all the notes on your instrument you should be fine to join in (or approx. grade 3+). Being able to read music will help, but is not essential. We will also do a lot of improvising and learning by ear, and people come from a range of musical backgrounds, so it’s a good place to develop these different skills too. Singers & backline instruments usually join in and learn their parts by ear.
