Tinderbox Frontiers is a city-wide programme of music and creative workshops for young people. It has a focus on bringing together a diverse mix of ideas, experiences and creative voices. We run over 100 workshops a year with young people of all ages and levels of ability, and everyone comes together though exciting and contemporary orchestras, events and other productions.
Tuesday Hub at North Edinburgh Arts
Every Tuesday 6-8pm from the 31st Jan – 28th March (off 21st Feb), 6 – 8pm at North Edinburgh Arts.
Based in North Edinburgh Arts, we run a weekly music hub for children & young people aged 8-21 and of all levels of experience, from those who have never played before to experienced young musicians. There is a live band, a studio & production group, songwriting, samba drumming and instrumental tuition – it is completely open access and runs every Tuesday free of charge. Alongside this we work with various partners around Edinburgh, currently including the Rock Trust, Kaimes School, Pilton Youth & Children’s Project, Drake Music and Muirhouse Youth Development Group. We provide over 100 workshops a year and bring everyone together through unconventional orchestras, concerts and events to form a diverse and exciting music collective.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to get involved!
Fusing orchestral instruments with samba drums, guitars, electronic instruments, ukeleles, singers, rappers and more, the Frontiers Orchestra is an all inclusive, open access and contemporary youth orchestra unlike anything you have heard before! It is open to young people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and experience – including those who have never played music before, and all of these people, instruments and voices work together to make a truly unique sound.
Frontiers Film, VJing, Street Art & More!
We run various workshops across the arts too, often working in collaboration with other arts organisations & freelance artists, and are keen to bring these together in the most exciting ways we can think of! All of these projects feed into Tinderbox’s other programmes and opportunities, providing pathways for development and an inspiring platform for bringing people together and bringing their ideas to life.
