Made in Scotland Showcase at Edinburgh Fringe
“The Edinburgh based ensemble wowed Fringe audiences at the pop-up Pianodrome venue at the Old Royal High School last year. This summer their unique sound is set to transform Edinburgh’s historic public library.”
Brian Ferguson, The Scotsman
Bringing together rappers and singers with soaring strings, heavy brass, woodwind and a thundering backline, Tinderbox transforms preconceptions of what an orchestra can be. Packed with original music, movement and unexpected collaborations, their new show will transform Edinburgh’s iconic Central Library into a stunning new live-music venue. The show builds on a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022 and a string of headline shows in London and across Scotland.
Every evening of their nine-run show, rows of desks will be cleared from the majestic ‘Reference Library’ room within Edinburgh Central Library and the space will burst into life with a fully amplified 20-piece band and 140-person Fringe crowd. By the next morning, it will return to a quiet and contemplative study room for Edinburgh’s library goers.
‘This show is a celebration of music, collaboration, talent and really highlights the energy and passion of the Tinderbox Collective as a whole. We are so excited to be back at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, partnering up with the Edinburgh Libraries to fill such a unique and remarkable venue with music throughout the festival!’

Tribes
With swirls of RATM and jazz, this is a cataclysmic collaboration that grabs you by the shoulders and shouts ‘are you in?’
Andrew Reilly, SNACK mag
Our new single ‘Tribes’ ft. Probably Edible is out now!
The track is a powerful combination of rap, heavy guitars, and orchestra instrumentation, reminiscent of Rage Against the Machine.
Our collaborator, Scottish rapper Probably Edible, describes the track saying:
“The song came from an album where I asked: why do we persist in destructive patterns of thinking and behaviour, even after we become aware of their negative impact on our lives? I realised that whenever I felt trapped in one of those cycles, I was afraid – afraid of leaving the comfort of what had become familiar to potentially end up somewhere worse than where I was. I wrote Tribes to express how I feel about systems that wilfully perpetuate our fear of the unknown to foster division, manipulate and control people, and even incite war.”
