Hidden Door Street Band Takeover!
In support of Edinburgh’s new Musical Instrument Libraries
Tinderbox Collective, Oi Musica and Edinburgh Library Services are putting together a massive street band at Hidden Door festival to celebrate a brand new initiative getting musical instruments into public libraries! And we’d love you to get involved!
We Make Music Instrument Libraries
We Make Music Instrument Libraries is a brand new initiative to get musical instruments into public libraries across Scotland. It is launching in Fife, North Ayrshire and Edinburgh, and we hope it will catch on in other areas too.
The first instrument libraries will be in Lochgelly in Fife, Kilwinning and Harbour Arts Centre in North Ayrshire, and in Edinburgh there will 6 libraries covering different areas of the city: Craigmillar, Drumbrae, Muirhouse, Wester Hailes and Moredun libraries, plus the music library at Central library.
We have just launched a crowdfunding campaign to gather donations so we can fill these libraries with instruments, music software and learning resources. If you would like to make a donation – with either money or musical instruments – we would love to hear from you!
Visit our Crowdfunder page for more information or to make a donation. Or contact Mae.Murray@mepgscotland.org if you have a musical instrument you would like to donate to the libraries.

Hidden Door Street Band Takeover!
If you play an instrument come and join us at Hidden Door Festival on 12th June from 1pm-3.30pm. We’ll be learning and rehearsing the pieces in a workshop from 1pm, and then we’ll perform them together at the festival as a massive band (up to 100 people) at 3pm!
The whole festival is free to attend in the daytime too, so even if you’re not playing you can come and enjoy the show! (If you would like buy tickets for the evening performances too, feat. Tinderbox Orchestra + special guests, click here!)
Everyone aged 10+ is welcome. We have young musicians of all ages and abilities from Tinderbox Collective, Oi Musica’s Brass Blast, and adult players from Portobello’s Shunpike Social Club – come and join the fun!
It’s free to take part but numbers are limited, so sign up now!
The Music has been arranged for different instruments and levels of experience – beginner, intermediate and advanced – see below for more details or click here to download your parts!
Hidden Door Festival is at The Old Royal High School, 5-7 Regent Rd, Edinburgh EH7 5BL
