We work closely with a range of other youth clubs, community groups and partner organisations to help bring some music into their work, by delivering workshops, playing at community events and putting together longer-term creative projects.
During the pandemic we have been working with the following community groups and organisations:
North Edinburgh Arts: Arts Centre in Muirhouse, Edinburgh. Tinderbox are based at North Edinburgh Arts and run our weekly youth music clubs and other workshops in the venue. During the pandemic we have been running regular outdoor music making sessions in the garden and socially distanced indoor sessions when guidance has allowed.
Rock Trust: Providing support and accommodation for young people struggling with homelessness. We have been running a regular music club at the Rock Trust for the past 6 years. During the pandemic we have been offering online music sessions whenever needed.
Amazing Harmonies: All ages singing and community group in Muirhouse, Edinburgh. During the pandemic we have been running regular online instrumental lessons and songwriting workshops.
Seamab School: Residential primary school for children in care. We offer instrumental lessons and participant led music making. During the pandemic we have been offering online instrumental lessons to pupils.
LGBT Youth Scotland: Organisation who support LGBTQ+ young people in Scotland. During the pandemic we have been running a songwriting project with one of their youth groups.
Expecting Something: A Wester Hailes based project run by Starcatchers that works with new and expectant parents under 25 and their babies. During the pandemic we have been running outdoor music making sessions and online instrumental and songwriting sessions.
SCORE Scotland: Strengthening Communities for Race Equality Scotland. An anti-racism and multi-equality voluntary organisation based in Wester Hailes. During the pandemic we have been supporting their online youth club , songwriting and helping participants access the Tinderbox Online Music School.
Action For Children: UK children’s charity committed to helping vulnerable children and young people, and their families. We run regular songwriting and music production projects with the Edinburgh BAME Boys group. During the pandemic we have continued songwriting online.

Edinburgh Multicultural Family Base: Supporting children and families, especially people who have recently moved to Edinburgh. We play a regular family ceilidh and run music and songwriting workshops with children and young people.
Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival: A community music Hub in Gorgie/Dalry. Tinderbox were involved in helping to set up this programme up and offering advice where needed.
